tagged open Rattle rattle, crash. A scream. Cassandra can feel it sure as day, that someone's going to walk up the stairs right now carrying far too many books. Her vision doesn't tell if the person is seriously hurt, and considering they're going to fall upwards, she thinks the most that'll happen is a scuff. Still, she approaches the end of the hallway, glancing through the door into the stairwell. She can see the stack of books rising. Then she can see them falling as the person stumbles over what she knows now is a shoelace. Crash go the textbooks, and she can hear the yelp just as her vision said. It's then that she opens the door, tossing some of her silver hair out of her face. " Hey," she says. Of course she'd show up now, some might think. Of course she's on hand whenever anyone's in trouble. Granted, this is less trouble than usual, but it's still a pretty sharp vision. " Need a hand picking those up?" She stares awkwardly, red eyes glossing over each book. " ...I mean. Uh. If you don't got it, at least." MADE BY ★MEULK

Sciences, history, math, the new book that the literature class just started. Too many books stacked up for her frail, bony arms to carry. But she knew she had to get these, since today would be a day dedicated to studies after classes. Regretfully she had been skipping out on her studies, too preoccupied with the new project her mother had obtained -- completing a tailoring of a wedding dress for a friend. What she knew was that they'd be giving off their old wedding dress to their daughter who was recently betrothed. The pink-haired girl felt happy with her mom getting such an important project but also worried. It must be so much work... she had to help! Yet it costed a few nights of slacking off to do so.
When her mom shooed her back to her schooling, Akemi practically felt the weight of missing academic time on her shoulders like heavy bricks. It was unfortunate, but important thing to do. Thus here she was -- juggling a mountain of books to make her way through towards her dorm -- much like a Poplio balancing a ball on its round nose. Steady, she mused, steady--!
Not really.
She caught her toe, stumbling over before colliding with the hard, dirty ground. A sharp, girlish yelp and whine escaped her lips as she fell. Her books collected around her, in the front and sides, almost forming a messy O. "How clumsy... Ugh..." She really wished nobody saw that.
"Hey." But they always did, didn't they? She lightly nipped at her lip, drawing back to let the pink curtains of her hair hide her. She was embarrassed, definitely. She stayed quiet, tense, to allow them to talk. If they were to scold her for her clumsiness, she'd understand. If not... "Need a hand picking those up?" More silence. "... I mean. Uh. if you don't got it at least." They sounded hesitant like they were mirroring the very person they were helping. They sounded kind.
She exhaled, before looking up, meeting ruby red with her rose quartz orbs. A girl with snowy hair and contrasting eyes stood before the milotic spirited. Hm, she definitely seemed familiar. Yet Akemi wasn't sure where. Her mind was still reeling from the crash. "Um, well... Yes please, I'd like that," she replied, as simple and casually as she could. Quickly, she rose from the ground, silently hissing once she felt the cool air hit her knee -- she had definitely grazed it. Ah well. She brushed off her clothing (of all the days to wear a skirt) and hands.
"Thank you, by the way, for the offer. I appreciate it."

tagged MIZUNO AKEMI All right. So she hasn't been chased off or yelled at for tripping her yet. Cassandra takes this as a victory. Maybe her father's right about her not being able to stop fate, but he's wrong when he says she can do nothing. She can pick up these books. She can make sure the other girl hasn't hurt herself too badly, though she's pretty sure if there was something serious she'd be able to tell by now. Usually people scream a lot more if something's broken. Carefully she starts picking up books, grounding her thoughts firmly in the present. There's no real pull into the future that she's getting, but she knows her tendency to have visions at inconvenient times. Most of the reason she's in this academy is to work through the issues, and she hasn't had any terrible visions of failing yet, so she thinks she's all right for now. It takes a moment for her to realize she's being thanked. She blinks a few times, trying to recall how people handle this. " Oh, uh, you're welcome." She half-smiles as she scoops up half the books. They sit between her arms and stomach, hard edges digging in deep. Ugh. Textbooks. A shame they couldn't get all their books online these days. " So uh. You want me to help you carry them to your room?" Unless her classmate's going to stay on this floor, accept her offer, or be more careful, Cassandra doesn't think there's going to be any more trips in her future. A shame the other girl's name is escaping her. Cass hasn't always been the greatest at keeping up with her classmates. She blames years of homeschooling. MADE BY ★MEULK

She stared at the girl as she took some of the books, the thought of familiarity lingering in her mind. She could recall of a girl, who seemed similar to her. But who...?
She backed up a few steps once she realized. Of course! How could she not remember... White hair, red eyes, a habit for appearing whenever things like this happen -- this was that Absol girl wasn't it?! What was her name again...? Carly? Cathy? Oh boy, the Milotic girl felt guilty not knowing a (possible) classmate's name but she couldn't recall her fellow second year peer to be all the talkative type. But it was a C. Then an A. Ca... Cameron? Casey...
"Cassie," she murmured, "You're Cassie, right? The girl with an Absol spirit." Akemi could feel herself tense up at the word. Absol. Was she The reason all of this happened? Because she wanted to linger around? So just as quickly as she rose from the ground earlier, her pink eyes hardened and her lips contorted to a frown. Were you the reason I fell? Was it you wanted to bully me? she wanted to say, to accuse. But the thought lingered in her mind again. An Absol spirit.
It seemed like a horrendous spirit to have. As much as having the spirit that predicted the future seemed nice, she could see the downsides almost out weighing the positives. It seemed lonely, maybe that was why she never really saw the girl -- at any instant she saw her -- around people much. Maybe she didn't have friends? Guilt and sympathy made her stomach knot together. And here she was about to yell at the poor girl too. How cruel could she be? It wasn't like people could choose their spirits. Just look at her with Milotic. So, instead, Akemi found herself suddenly giving a small smile instead. "It's nice to meet you. We've never talked before, huh? I'm Akemi. If you have trouble pronouncing it though, just call me Mii or Mimi; that's what most people do when they can't say it right." The pink-haired second year gave a lighthearted giggle. "It's mispronounced as 'achy-meee' a lot! I don't know where people get that from, drawing out the -mi on the end so much! I remember one time, too, some old substitute teacher was trying to say it and started singing 'My Achy Breaky Heart' instead as a joke. He did it until I had to raise my hand to let him know I was in class. It was so embarrassing. The nicknames from classmates afterwards was the worse..." Did she really just reveal that...? Akemi could feel her cheeks heat up at the moment. Change the subject!
"O-Oh! Um, here, let me take some books too." She scurried to receive the last of the textbooks, only getting the bulky math book and the thin paperback for literature. Maybe she should just be more quiet for trying to be nice, no more dumb stories. "Sorry for rambling. But yes, we can go to my room, too. This way please."

tagged MIZUNO AKEMI And there's the recognition. Cassandra instinctively corrects, " Cassandra," even though she knows most people would probably just use a shorter variant anyway. And she expects the other girl to reject her offer immediately, as the frown is something she's used to by now. Yes, this is her fault somehow, people tend to believe, even if she doesn't have the power to cause misfortune. She simply sees it coming. It's not her fault-- The smile catches her off-guard. Then the long ramble about a name, and Cassandra finds herself listening quietly. It's awkward, but not unwelcome. It's a shame that outside Jacob, she doesn't really have many people her age to socialize with, and thus when the conversation turns back to her she can only mumble, " Oh, it's fine." She follows after Akemi, trying to think of anything to say. " I don't really... get the whole mispronouncing thing. Then again I was homeschooled, so all my teachers knew me." She supposes that makes it a lot easier, doesn't it? " I think that's why most people don't know me, hah." Even after a year of being in the academy, she's still not entirely used to everyone. It'd be so much easier if she could still cling to Jacob, but he's about ready to graduate and doesn't need his lame sophomore cousin clinging to him. MADE BY ★MEULK

A nervous, fake laugh left her lips at Cassandra's reply. It wasn't needed but it felt awkward otherwise. Or really everything felt at least a bit awkward and tense.
That or the fact you kind of cause trouble, she thought. But it was such a nasty thought. She almost felt her stomach churn at it. It wasn't Cassie's -- Cassandra's fault that things happened around her. They just... happened, right? Yeah. So to hear the girl's quiet response, she gave a light him. "Well... Public school isn't really that special. At least you didn't get, uh, made fun of or anything. People can be rather cruel sometimes..." She knew that well, in elementary school that is. "So, maybe this time could be your time! No reputation or anything, you can do whatever you want here unlike homeschool! A new you with your Pokémon spirit." She wanted to be positive, to be cheerful, and looking towards the future than past for the both of them. Milotic and Absol. One that brought peace while the other destruction. The spirits were so different, though Akemi felt like maybe things didn't have to be different.
"Things don't have to be the way they are, anyways, that's what they say about university. It's a time of change. I think you're... nice! I mean, you helped me and all. Without making fun of me or calling me clumsy. Oh, here we are." She stopped at the door, her arms crying out at relief. She had been carrying these books for awhile, it was starting to get a bit sore. "Mm, thank you again for this. I appreciate it! Uh... between you and me, by the way, please don't tell anybody you saw me trip please? I doubt people would care but... I do. A bit. Well, a lot actually."

tagged MIZUNO AKEMI Well, it's almost pleasant. Probably the best interaction she's had in a while, though in part due to how in her first year she stuck to the walls like a ghost and had no clue how to handle the social pressure. But the conversations always shift around her and she tries to shrug it off. " I kinda already have a reputation," she says, sighing. " But I guess I could try. I dunno." Socializing isn't easy for her, though she's managing it now. Kind of. Barely. The comment about being nice makes her flush a bit. No one's really called her that. Maybe others would call her that if she talked to more people. Is she nice? If enough people think she is, does it count? Oh, wait, more words. Quick, Cassandra, speak like a human! " And uh, I don't plan on telling anyone. Or ever really mentioning it again. Not just because you asked me but because tripping's kinda normal, isn't it? Nothin' to really grill someone about. The proper response is to ask if they're okay and then help." Man, public schools are weird. Do people really mock people over inane things like that? " But uh yeah. Do you want me to put these books anywhere?" She pauses. " ...Nothing bad's gonna happen if I walk in there, don't worry." Shit, why did she say that? MADE BY ★MEULK

Yeah, she was aware of that little reputation her companion had. Maybe not at first, because, well, the first person you'd want to be around wouldn't be the one that rumored to cause chaos every time they turned the corner. So she didn't bother to remember the rumors of the "destructive" Cassandra Argyris, not that she ought to remember rumors that floated around the university. However they were so numerous and just well-known in the school and Fernchester was so isolated that it had nothing else but to succumb to nothing but little gossip to amuse the more chatterbox citizens and students. Akemi was sure her parents were well-aware of the Argyris Family, though she wondered if her father had any interaction with them. She knew of a few families through him but he didn't disclose all the details of his work to her. "Reputations can always be changed, I'm sure. You just have to be positive! It's hard, but in the end, it'll pay off." While she truly believed so -- it wasn't like she thought as an unsightly child that she'd turn skinny and "pretty" -- she always didn't know what else to tell Cassandra. Being cheery and positive was the only thing she had, at the moment! "Besides... you have me thinking you have a good heart. I'm sure you can charm others just as easy."
The small smile on her lips grew, noticing the pale pink tint on the other girl's cheeks. Aw, how cute! Yeah, maybe Cassie was just the timid type. "Well, still... I appreciate it a lot. I, uh, guess I'm just overly self-conscious. I just get so embarrassed easily. Tripping like that isn't so elegant, so in-Milotic-like. But hearing your response, it makes me feel better. You really are nice."
She balanced the books on her knee and arm, bringing it up close to her torso to touch while her right arm fumbled with the door to open it, revealing the neat, open space. "Ah, just place it on my bed please. It's all the way over on the other side. See?" She nodded, her head gesturing across the room. The pink-haired sophomore let out another awkward laugh, "I'm glad that nothing will happen. Thanks for the relief? I guess... Anyways, please come in!"
Everything was cleaned, for the most part, to her relief. Nobody would ever come in to a messy room of a Mizuno's! Or so she believed. Her parents were always so neat and tidy that she always replicated the habit; she was the main student in the dorm, as she never had a dorm mate, so things were always to her liking. That or they never really bother to come in when she was in the room. "Now I can study for all that stuff I missed," Akemi sighed as she approached the haven of a bed, placing the books on the bed. Her knee was feeling better, no longer stinging from the earlier fall. It had stopped for a while after her tumble, but she was too busy attempting to be a chatterbox in the awkward silence that she hadn't notice before.
"What about you, Cassandra? Any plans now that you're free?"
