this is minjae, a junior at the university. he's shit at controlling his pichu's spirit, which has caused accidents on more than one accord - most get away with minor static in their hair but if minjae gets too emotional and has an outburst of sorts, he can discharge enough electricity from his body that'll render people paralysed. case in point - his mother, who he now takes care of while running her flower shop and studying. life's rough, minjae gets it, but he also just internalises a lot of the shit he has to deal with in life.
he's not the most outspoken of people simply because he's afraid of hurting others like he hurt his mom, so the best would be if everyone just sorta veered away from him. i would really love if he had friends (possibly of the electric-type variety) that he hangs out with and feels comfortable with because they can shrug off his uncontrolled discharges and basically be people he can be normal around and not have to worry so much when he's around them. he's a good friend, good listener, will stick a limb out for you.
he dislikes confrontations, so enemies are fairly one sided. he'll let insults roll off his back unless you get personal. then he'll get angry. he's not very pleasant when he's angry.
suffice to say that the whole distancing of people makes it hard for him to fall in love too, though if he does have a partner already (idk, we could make it work. electric-types probably have a better chance. he's open to whatever too.) it could also explain one more reason why he's not doing great in school. they'd have to deal with the fact that minjae is quite the mama's boy ie his mother comes above all else, and that could be a potential source of conflict for them. he definitely tries to be devoted and stuff, though. he also makes a real mean bouquet so 10/10 would try to be a good boyfriend.
other things i have in mind - a doctor that he regularly visits hoping to cure his mother, students looking to part time at the flower shop, someone that can help him control his powers, etc throw ideas at me

hi hello i'm sitting on ur feet now.
i have nnnnno hard ideas, just that aoife is probably one of the safer people for him to hang around since she can recover from most things. slowly, but she can recover. she's one of the many professors around the school and certainly doesn't mind listening to students rant and ramble from time to time. it's one of the few things she likes about teaching and she would have quit to waitress a forever ago if she didn't.
aaand then i've got cassie, who doesn't like being called cassie but i'm calling her that anyway. she's an absol spirit so she's cursed to bring doom and disaster everywhere she goes (supposedly; in truth she just knows it's coming and is drawn to it). minjae seems like a pretty unlucky person, so it'd make sense that at some point an absol sense would have her cross his path. i'm not sure if he'd like her, but i think it'd be amusing if they met in a bad situation and every time after that he only sees her just before something terrible (or just inconvenient and embarrassing) is going to happen to him or anyone around him. i'm not sure if they'd be friends, since she's neither an electric type nor an audino like aoife, but it could be a thing.

hunter is a cool guy ok. he's basically your average fuckboy, but he's not gonna get turned off by some weakass electric shock. if anything, he'll think it's a game and play along. also, he has this thing where he's infinitely more interested in befriending people who don't like to be befriended so that's a thing. but look here, they're in the same year and hunter's persistent, so chances are they probably know each other.
basically i'm thinking they'd make a pretty unlikely duo, but it would at least be interesting. hunter's pretty bad at listening to feelings, and minjae is bad at talking about them. plus, minjae would never have to worry about static electricity ruining hunter's hair, because if anything, it'd probably improve that mess.

AOIFE PARISH yells i was gonna hit up plotters but everyone beat me to it... but it's ok!! i can sorta see minjae wanting to learn something about healing because he'd like to know what to have handy in case he zaps people by accident. if she's interested in giving him tips for healing classes that'll also work ( uni to him is kinda useless because he doesn't really need to know it to run a flower shop ) because at the end of the day he'd just like to get outta school being slightly less dangerous than he needs to be. as for CASSANDRA ARGYRIS - maybe they had some sort of bump in like a couple of days before his mother's accident. if he ever puts two and two together, i think minjae might approach her with caution? wariness? he might also become really superstitious about bad luck and omens and stuff like that. he might even sort of awkwardly go out of his way to avoid her as awkwardly as possible, just sorta. plastering himself to the wall hoping she won't notice him and bad stuff won't happen to him. (it still does. he's a real magnet for bad luck and embarrassing situations. might have discharged some static her way and gotten super embarrassed about it) idk what d'you think? HUNTER BORSELLINO big boof dog and tiny little rodent AIGHT i'm thinking maybe they could be roommates?? for the whole unlikely duo thing where hunter is free to get all up and close and invade his personal space and make him cry or something idk. it'll probably make befriending (read: harassing) minjae a lot easier too so we could totally do it if you're down!! |

ROOMIES!!!! just so you know, hunter is that asshole who plays music at 2am while doing homework & the downstairs neighbor hates his guts. so if minjae can handle that, it'll absolutely work haha! also, the only harassment would be friendly harassment.

Yo, I'm down for Cassandra being around for that. Not really noticing but showing up outside the shop with a sort of bleak stare, wondering if she could do anything about this at all. And after that, just as a sort of strange presence whenever anything bad happens. I've mentioned in Cass's backstory that her family has a reputation, so it's possible that he knows being around her is usually a magnet for bad luck. I could see an accidental static happening, though, and could be fun for a thread.
As far as Aoife goes, she'd be more than willing to help him learn! Learning to help reduce the onset of certain conditions makes it less likely for them to be permanent, so I figure she's used to working with kids that have dangerous power outbursts. he's also a junior and she tends to like her upperclassmen due to knowing them for a while, so he's always welcome to hang around her classroom after hours (if she's not running detention that day).

HUNTER BORSELLINO hell yeah that works! he'll get roomie privileges like mj being a walking portable charger so he'll never have to worry about a power outage or an uncharged phone - also, minjae actually digs music so he might actually be quietly headbanging in the corner if there's a good rock song playing (otherwise he'll be on his headphones, lmao) if it all sounds rad, i can start a thread in the dorms with them and hunter is more than free to harass him friendly-ly, lmao. CASSANDRA ARGYRIS ahh okay, he's probably familiar with those rumours, which i guess would make him super jittery around her and having this sense of dread even when i guess bad luck could be as small as a little static shock - i don't know if cass would tell him to chill. mj also kinda doesn't have the heart to tell people to leave him alone if they persist to hang around him. we could do a small casual thread along the hallways or somewhere in town where mj's flower shop is? also i am totally abusing the fact his fc has headphones he would probably be really supportive of her interests in music 10/10 would probably just kinda be drawn to her music and then realise it's hers and be like oshit did i just curse myself with bad luck or for aoife - mj probably doesn't hang around much after classes because he's got a business to run, but maybe a bump in in the hallway where she just notices him looking down in the dumps or something, since he's also not very forthcoming with his own problems unless prodded about it. we can work with a thread with cass first and then aoife a little later! |
